Ikea Atlanta recently hosted its first-ever in-store Tekken 8 tournament, players locked in, crowds forming between mock bedrooms, and a furniture showroom suddenly feeling like a neighborhood arcade. It’s a fun headline, but it also says something bigger about where gaming culture keeps showing up.

The setup was simple, a few screens, some PS5s, and an open section of the store. but it changed the vibe completely. People weren’t just shopping, they were hanging out, playing, and connecting in a space that would normally have felt like standard retail staging. Another example of how gaming fits into everyday environments now without feeling out of place.

Brands are starting to understand that games aren’t just entertainment, they’re social spaces. Putting a tournament in a furniture store isn’t just a gimmick, it’s a way of meeting people where they are, literally and culturally.
